Carolin Mittler
Stage Design
Studied stage design at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and designed her first sets for the Theater der Jugend in Munich after graduating. From 1989 to 1991 she was a permanent stage designer at the Württembergische Landesbühne Esslingen and has been working freelance since 1991. Her engagements have taken her to the Staatstheater Stuttgart ("Eréndira"), Schauspiel Bonn ("Nathan der Weise", "Die goldenen letzten Jahre"), Theater Ingolstadt ("Der Brandner Kaspar und das ewig Leben", "Dogville", "Messer in Hennen", "Trainspotting", "Wir sind noch einmal davongekommen", "Yvonne, die Burgunderprinzessin"), Staatsschauspiel Dresden ("Onkel Wanja"), Staatstheater Wiesbaden ("Kur-Guerilla"), Theater Oberhausen ("Zur schönen Aussicht"), Staatstheater Darmstadt ("Ein spanisches Stück"), Theater Erlangen ("Antigone", "Der Theatermacher"), SchauBurg München ("Hexenfieber"), Staatstheater Mainz ("Die Jungfrau von Orleans", "Eines langen Tages Reise in die Nacht") and Staatsheater Kassel ("Die Räuber", "Maria Stuart").
At the HLTM in 2018/2019, she was responsible for the set design for MARIA STUART / ULRIKE MARIA STUART, DER KIRSCHGARTEN and DIESE MAUER FASST SICH SELBST ZUSAMMEN UND DER STERN HAT GESPROCHEN, DER STERN HAT AUCH WAS GESAGT. The latter received the 2019 Heidelberg Stückemarkt post-production prize. Carolin Mittler was also nominated for the DER FAUST theater prize for the stage and costume design of the production.
In addition, the prize for a special artistic achievement of the Hessian Theatre Days 2019 went to Carolin Mittler for the stage and costumes of MARIA STUART/ULRIKE MARIA STUART.
In 2020/2021 she created the set for the play GLAUBE LIEBE HOFFNUNG and in 2021/2022 for AMSTERDAM.
In the 2022/2023 season she is responsible for the stage design of the award-winning play WONDERWOMB.
