Katrin Vellrath, musician, composer and music producer for theater, film, visual arts, contemporary dance and performance.
Since 2002 she has written stage music for numerous theaters, including the Staatstheater Kassel, the Volksbühne Berlin, the Schauspiel Essen, the Staatstheater Nürnberg and the Mozarteum in Salzburg. Vellrath's interdisciplinary understanding of sound and music has led to continuous collaborations with directors, visual artists and musicians in cultural fields for over 20 years. Vellrath has worked with stage and film directors such as Schirin Khodadadian, Eva Lange, Calla Henkel & Max Pitegoff, Dominik von Gunten, Gustav Rueb and Frauke Finsterwalder.
Her performative solo project Arises (2008-2013) and her compositions are shown internationally in institutional art and gallery contexts including Berlinische Galerie, Neuer Berliner Kunstverein, Schinkel Pavillon (Berlin), Gavin Brown ́s Enterprise (New York), Centre for Contemporary Art Ujazdowski Castle (Warsaw), The Center for Contemporary Art (Tel Aviv), among others.
