Nino Haratischwili, born in 1983 in Tbilisi/Georgia, is an award-winning playwright, theater director and novelist. Her major family epic The Eighth Life (For Brilka), translated into 25 languages, became a worldwide bestseller, and a major international film adaptation is in preparation. Her work has received numerous awards, including the Anna Seghers Literature Prize, the Bertolt Brecht Prize and the Schiller Memorial Prize, and her latest novel, Das mangelnde Licht (The Lack of Light), published in February 2022, has already been sold in 15 countries before publication.
Her latest play "Phaedra, in Flammen", performed by herself at the Royal District Theatre Tbilisi in October 2022, will have its German premiere at the Berliner Ensemble in May 2023.
She staged her own text RADIO UNIVERSE at the HLTM and will premiere her own version of WARUM DAS KIND IN DER POLENTA KOCHT in April. Nino Haratischwili lives in Berlin.
