Zaza Rusadze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia in 1977. In 1996 he moved to Germany and studied at the film school HFF "Konrad Wolf” in Potsdam in directing class. In 2007 Rusadze founded Zazarfilm Production in Tbilisi and splits his time between Europe and Georgia since. In 2013 his feature debut A FOLD IN MY BLANKET, world-premiered at 63rd Berlin International Film Festival as opening film of the Panorama. In 2015 Zazarfilm’s latest production, the documentary WHEN THE EARTH SEEMS TO BE LIGHT received the IDFA 2015 Award for Best First Appearance at IDFA Documentary Film Festival in Amsterdam. Next to directing and producing Rusadze regularly works as Assistant Director on international film-productions and assisted i.a. Ineke Smits, Dito Tsintsadze und Otar Iosseliani. 2015-2017 he was member of the Selection Committee of DOK Leipzig. Currently Rusadze lives in Berlin, making videos for theatre stages in Hamburg, Vienna and Tbilisi alongside with writing his first novel.
