The studio production of the HFMDK 2024The studio production of the HFMDK 2024Nine characters are on a quest, wanting to arrive in life, in a home, in an image that they have of themselves. They chase unfulfilled dreams or want to fulfill others' dreams. If they succeed on one side, they crash on the other, experience disappointments, doubt decisions once made, or are faced with private struggles.
While her husband has a successful political career, Marina's desire to have children remains unfulfilled. Deborah's project of telling the world good news often forces her to turn a blind eye. Winnie engages Una in her search for her missing husband, and two people who have given each other a wide berth find an intersection. Maja would much rather attend a wedding of the English royal family than deal with her imminent birth. And then there's Frank Sinatra, who tells stories of world literature to people on the street for just a few cents. When he meets the literary scholar Leila, a conversation between like-minded people finally seems to unfold.
Nino Haratischwili wrote the play "Kokoro" in 2012 on behalf of the Saarland State Theatre. Her figures are in constant motion. It is unclear whether these are parallel lives at different ends of the world or whether all the characters live in one house and could meet in the stairwell, on the way to work or at lunch. All of them are united by the desire to achieve harmony between themselves and the world. They no longer chase after ideal images, projections and wishful thinking. But what if this option doesn't even exist? If we knew how our lives turn out and what challenges we have to face, who would perhaps decline with gratitude at the beginning?
