ERNST IST DAS LEBEN (BUNBURY)
Komödie
To escape the boring duties of society, the young aristocrats Algernon and Jack have come up with certain lies. Algernon invents a chronically ill friend, “Bunbury,” to be able to escape to the countryside at any time. Jack pretends to be in London taking care of a younger brother, Ernst. When their lies are revealed, Algernon learns of Jack’s ward Cecily and travels to the countryside. He pretends to be his brother “Ernst” and falls in love with Cecily. However, Jack, as “Ernst,” has already proposed to Gwendolen in town. Since both women want to marry a man named “Ernst” and now think they are engaged to the same man, chaos ensues.
